The song of the day for Wednesday, August 2, 2023 is "Alaska" by Portair.
Portair is a new discovery after a friend pointed me to their music. This track stood out as one of my early favorites, but I strongly recommend checking out their 2023 EP "Learning How to Die".
On "Alaska" the very opening line caught me. As someone who likes to travel, the simple lyric painted the picture of yearning to visit places around the world. The vocals fit well to the feeling of wanting to be somewhere, with lyrics that back up the feeling of wanderlust. With the simple strum of the guitar in the background, this song does more with less and quickly landed in my library.
